Review in "Gitarre & Bass", Issue 05 / 2008 (Excerpts)
The Tweedsound 25 shows this striking "bite", this breathing compression and the full basic tone that makes a tweed combo. It's Blues time! Depending on the output power of the guitar pickups, the Tweed tone drifts into a charming distortion between a volume of 4-6, which only sounds convincing, if all ingredients in the amp harmoniously fit together. And that is the
case here. This is also shown by the fact that, my obligatory tube changes did not result in any better sound. Connecting other speakers was also useless and did not bring any improvement. All components in the tweedsound 25 seem to be perfectly matched.
The tone is rough, but sweet, fantastically singing and always has that "roomliness" That means it does not scream into the face of the player, but with it's full sound comfortably spreads in the whole room. The ideal thing for a good club gig. I can only once more presume that the massive transformers are the basis for this stable and round sound.
The improved version of the North German Tweed Combo is the same in price/performance ratio as the JTA-45 amp we tested before. We can only give "5 stars" and a big applause. This product shows, in an impressive way, that boutique qualities, with a lot of love and attention to detail, can be offered at a price level, that could even attract the beginner. And for the speakers we give an extra point on top.
